    • WHAT IS A DENTAL IMPLANT?

A dental implant is a titanium cylinder or cone that is surgically placed in the maxillary bone (upper or lower) in order to replace one or more missing teeth.

  • HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET A DENTAL IMPLANT?
The surgery is performed in the office with local anesthesia and is outpatient. Depending on the number of implants that are placed, it is estimated that it can last from 2 to 4 hours.
  • WHAT ARE THE NECESSARY STUDIES?
Routinely, we will request panoramic radiography, computed tomography and laboratory analysis with surgical risk. In the event that the patient presents some other underlying pathology, complementary studies may be requested.
    •
  • ARE THE TEETH PLACED IN THE SAME SURGERY APPOINTMENT?
  • Depending on the case. If it is an aesthetically compromised area, the professional can plan the placement of an immediate provisional prosthesis. In other cases, and as long as the patient agrees, we wait for the healing of the tissues to make a provisional. After 3 months of placing the implant and, provided that it has been properly osseointegrated, the final prosthesis will begin to be made.
  • HOW DO I KNOW IF I HAVE BONE TO GET IMPLANTS?
In the evaluation and diagnosis consultation, we will request radiographic studies that will allow us to evaluate the quantity and quality of available bone. After this, we will be able to determine if the available bone is sufficient or if we need to perform some other procedure that enables the support of the implant, such as bone fillers.
